1-Day Fly-In Bear Viewing Trip Departing From Seward, Alaska
A Backcountry Safaris exclusive, the only bear viewing tours departing from Seward, Alaska.
Seeing bears in the wild is an amazing Alaskan experience. Our fly-in bear viewing locations are populated with large numbers of bears, both brownies and blacks. The bear viewing areas are located on the west side of Cook Inlet, just a 30 to 40 minute flight from the float plane base in Soldotna, Alaska. These short duration flights equate to more viewing time for your adventure.
UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL only begins to describe what lies ahead for you.
We start the day off with an early departure from Seward, Alaska. We will make a quick stop to pick up a box lunch for your trip (included). The drive to the Soldotna floatplane base is about a 2-hour drive from Seward. This is a scenic drive and we will make photo stops along the way.
In Soldotna, the turbo-powered ten passenger DeHavilland Otter on floats or the nine passenger turbo-powered Cessna Caravan on floats will whisk you away from Soldotna and about 30 minutes later your bear viewing adventure begins. Other wildlife you might see are beavers, bald eagles, loons, fish, plus an opportunity to spot a whale, seals, moose and other wildlife during the flight over.
You'll get about 5 hours on the ground watching the bears. Bring extra camera batteries because the action can be nonstop during your entire visit. These Alaskan brown bears (and some black bears) are there to fish for sockeye salmon and teach their cubs how to eventually do their own fishing when they are older.
After flying back to Soldotna we'll drive back to Seward arriving in the late evening, making for a full day adventure.
