look at our Bear Glacier Photo Album and just imagine how amazing it would be seeing this awesome place in person.
You will meet the water taxi at Seward's south boat ramp for the 45 minute ride out to Bear Glacier. Detail information will be emailed to you on reservation. On the way out to Bear Glacier you will want to keep an eye open for the orca and humpback whales that are sometimes seen on the trip to Bear Glacier.
After arriving at Bear Glacier we will get you dressed in dry suits that helps protect us from the cold glacier water and then head out to explore the maze of icebergs.
After paddling for few hours we will head back to the camp for lunch. After lunch we will head up towards the faces of Bear Glacier and maybe get to see a glacier calving to see how the giant icebergs are formed.
While continuing our exploration we will keep a look out for the harbor seals lying on the icebergs. Harbor seals come into the lagoon seeking protection from the Orca whales that cruise the narrow glacier moraine beach on the ocean side of Bear Glacier Lagoon. We'll also keep an eye out for other wildlife in the area that include black bears, mountain goats, coyotes, wolverines and a variety of birds that nest in the area.
In the late afternoon we meet our water taxi for the return trip back to Seward.
