Iceberg at Bear Glacier

Bear Glacier Sea Kayaking
If you're looking for a 1-day Alaska sea kayaking experience, Bear Glacier is the most amazing, photogenic, and unique Alaska sea kayaking experience available in Alaska. Take a moment to look at our Bear Glacier Photo Album and just imagine how amazing it would be seeing this awesome place in person. A maze of giant Bear Glacier icebergs awaits your arrival. Sea kayaking around the icebergs is so special that when you get here you're going to want to stay longer.

Two options are available to get to Bear Glacier. By boat and by fly-in on a helicopter.

Bear Glacier is the largest glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park. This remote Alaska wilderness area is about 15 roadless miles south of Seward and on the west side of Resurrection Bay. This trip departs from Seward, Alaska and we have 2 options to get you out to our Bear Glacier Wilderness Retreat where this incredible sea kayaking adventure starts. You can go out by water taxi; this is a scenic boat ride along Resurrection Bay's coastline and the least costly way for you to experience the sea kayaking paradise at Bear Glaciers. The other option is a scenic flightseeing trip to Bear Glacier by helicopter. If your budget allows, this combination helicopter flightseeing and sea kayaking makes for a great day of adventure in Alaska.

Compare The Differences
You'll see why Backcountry Safaris is your best choice.
  • Harbor Seal on ice flowDry Suit - We supply dry suits to keep you warm, dry, and help protect you from hypothermia in Alaska's cold waters. Other Seward sea kayaking outfitters provide (or rent at extra cost) rain gear and rubber boots that offer little protection. Another advantage to dry suits is that if the weather turns wet, they add warmth and a comfort level you would not think possible in this maritime environment.
  • Single Kayaks - We provide an option to paddle your own single-person kayak. Most other outfitters use only two-person kayaks. Please inquire.
  • High Quality Experience Since 1986 - Recognized by the National Geographic as one of the best adventure travel companies in the world.
